We are a group of ICS students from University of California, Irvine doing a project based on the work of Yang Wang. His project focuses on the issue of Personalization and Privacy (POP) which has been undergoing a serious debate regarding the constraints of how far can a company go to collect data in order to create a service privatization without crossing the boundary of trespassing an individual's privacy.

Since different individuals, countries, and other factors relatively determine their own standard of privacy, it is difficult for a single organization to cope up with everybody's demand. There has been previous attempts taken to tackle this issue, but was proven to be inefficient. Thus, this project's approach is to be able to tackle the issue of complying with privacy regulation constraints that varies with every different individual, but at the same time, flexible in terms of being able to provide such service within a centralized domain.

Team 7 is assigned to improve its selector process, which currently only supports sequential processing mechanism due to the limitation posed by the software development environment, ArcStudio 3.0. The sequential processing can only process one request at a time, which in time, can prove to be costly to the speed of the execution. The goal is to transform the current sequential processing mechanism into a parallel processing that will be able to process multiple request at the same time, which we believe will improve the processing speed of the system.

Please feel free to browse through our website as we embark in our journey to find an efficient manner to implement a parallel processing system for the POP project.
